Webster Middle and High School is home to the district’s only television studio within a school! Students in Webster’s Television, Film and Digital Media program learn career-ready skills to create captivating content from start to finish.
Television, Film and Digital Media teacher Dennis Burns says: “My goal is to give students as much hands-on experience as possible in as many areas as possible so they can learn what it’s like to work in a real-life, functioning film or television studio.”
Students can join the program starting in 8th grade. Inside TWHTV Studios, students learn leadership and technical skills through hands-on projects such as the student-produced daily news broadcast TWHTV Live, as well as other individual and group projects.
Burns says: “This program gives students the opportunity to earn industry certifications so that immediately after graduation they are ready to either further their media education with a college degree or to enter the workforce and pursue a career in Oklahoma’s growing television and film industry.”
Students can earn three media production certifications: producer, editor and production assistant. Click here to view the list of media production classes available to students and click here to see more industry certifications available through the district’s Career Tech Education program.
